IPS e.max, like its predecessor IPS empress, delivers outstanding esthetics.  Additionally IPS e.max delivers improved strength which means you can bond or cement this restoration.  We employ a full-contour wax and porcelain pressing process when producing these restorations to deliver the ultimate in marginal integrity.  In the esthetic zone, we cut back the pressed restoration and layer veneering porcelains to enhance characterization and vitality.  The flexibility to either cement or bond this restoration allows us a wider range of applications.  You can conventionally cement a full coverage single restoration as well as anterior bridge.  A bonding process is recommended for inlays, onlays, and veneers.

The very nature and purpose of all-ceramic materials, like Ivoclar Vivadent's IPS e.max and empress, is to emulate the natural characteristics of the surrounding dentition.  With a high level of translucency and light having the ability to permeate these all-ceramic restorations, many factors affect the final esthetics.  By obtaining a stump shade at the time of preparation, money and time can be saved by eliminating the re-shade or remake of a restoration and the subsequent second appointment.
